About Mark
Mark Smith is an Ontario-based ironworker with a lifelong passion for art and creativity. When he's not working high steel, you'll usually find him chasing one of his other passions, snowboarding, riding his motorcycle, spending time with friends and family, or creating art. Mark believes that when passions collide, amazing things can happen.
A charcoal and chalk artist at heart, Mark grew up watching his father paint and draw, fascinated by what could be created with nothing more than imagination and a few simple tools. Inspired by those early moments, he has been drawing since he could hold a pencil.
For most of his life Mark simply gave his artwork away to friends and family. Seeing his work hanging on their walls has always meant more to him than anything else. Over time he developed his own techniques and style, constantly pushing himself to explore new ideas and refine every piece he creates.
Mark's work often focuses on portraits with attitude and wildlife, a tribute to the influence of his father while still expressing his own voice as an artist. His charcoal drawings are known for their detail, depth, and personality. Mark doesn't stop working on a piece until it feels right.
Through word of mouth alone, his artwork has already found homes as far away as Australia. But for Mark, success isn't just about where the art travels, it's about the connections it creates.
At his core, Mark is a free spirit who believes we're all brothers and sisters sharing this rock together. He values loyalty, friendship, and the people who have supported him along the way. Mark is grateful for every opportunity to share his work and is excited to see where this journey leads. For him, it's simply about pushing himself, staying true to what he loves, and creating something beautiful.
